Industrial Silicones: The Power of RTV-2 Silicones

RTV-2 (Room Temperature Vulcanize) silicones, essential in mold and model production as well as various modeling works in industrial manufacturing processes, are two-component silicones that cure at room temperature. Activated with a tin-based catalyst, these silicones are produced through a condensation-type synthesis method and have a wide range of applications.

  • Hardness: The Shore A hardness value obtained after the elastomer formation of RTV-2 silicone determines the product’s hardness and softness degree at room temperature. The Shore A value usually ranges from 0 to 50, indicating the product’s elasticity.
  • Elasticity: The ability of RTV-2 silicone elastomers to return to their original shape after being stretched and released is measured by the percentage elongation value expressed in technical data. Hardness and elasticity are directly proportional, increasing the flexibility of RTV-2 silicones in use.
